波西米亞作曲家 Jan Krtitel Vanhal/Johann Baptist Vanhal（1739-1813 年）於 1763 年左右在維也納定居。他在那里為各種樂器寫了幾首協奏曲，其中兩首為中提琴而作的協奏曲倖存了下來。兩者顯然都不是原創作品，而是萬哈爾對他自己的一些作品的改編，這是當時的普遍做法。C大調中提琴協奏曲以萬哈爾的同調大提琴協奏曲為基礎。

The Bohemian composer Jan Krtitel Vanhal/Johann Baptist Vanhal (1739–1813) settled in Vienna around 1763. There he wrote several concertos for various instruments, of which two for viola have survived. Both are evidently not original compositions, but arrangements by Vanhal of some of his own works, a common practice of that time. The Viola Concerto in C major is based on Vanhal's cello concerto in the same key.
Our new revised edition makes this Concerto available once again. The solo part contains cadenzas for each movement.
